Intensive Therapy

Online Intensives across California and Oregon

Have you tried countless methods to heal your past wounds, but still feel stuck, exhausted, and uncertain about where to go next?

Maybe you’ve been through weekly therapy and seen some progress, but you still find yourself triggered by past trauma or responding with old, unhelpful patterns. Maybe you've tried weekly therapy but felt like you only scratched the surface of the healing you know is possible. Maybe there’s a major life event—like having a baby, getting married, or starting a new job—and you need real change now, not in six months. Or perhaps you’ve recently been diagnosed with cancer and you want to heal your past trauma quickly to support your whole being. Whatever the case, if you're ready to go deeper and break through the barriers that still hold you back, you’re not alone—and this is the opportunity for accelerated transformative change.

Intensive Retreats are the answer.

It may feel impossible now, but you can get to the root of your issues. You can heal. You can improve the quality of your life. And I can help you get there.

Intensives work fast

Intensive Immersive Therapy allows you to dive deeper into your healing process and see results more quickly. The work is concentrated into longer, uninterrupted sessions. Unlike weekly one-hour sessions, which can break up the momentum; intensives give you the opportunity to focus fully on your progress, without distractions.

How often have you felt you were just starting to reach the heart of an issue when the session ended? Have you ever felt like the time settling into a session and catching up prevented you from going deeper?

Immersive retreats are concentrated, focused and immersive.

The progress you make, could otherwise take up to six months in traditional therapy making intensives a faster, more efficient way to achieve meaningful progress.

Why do an Intensive Retreat?

  • You are in crisis or a ‘breakdown’ and want to turn it into a breakthrough

  • You want to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for a big life event like a wedding, becoming a parent, a medical procedure, starting a new job, or moving to a new city

  • You want to experience deep therapeutic work that can change your life

  • You had a very painful experience that is still impacting you today

  • You have done EMDR before and found it helpful for your healing and wellbeing

  • You already go to weekly therapy and you feel on the verge of a break through but just can’t get there

  • You want to break generational patterns by working through trauma

It may feel impossible now, but you can Journey deeper and feel better faster.

Intensive Retreats helps you accomplish 5 things:

  1. Understand the impact of past trauma

  2. Experience transformative understanding and healing

  3. Develop insights and resilience

  4. Achieve a profound shift in the way you experience yourself

  5. Create lasting change

How does it work?

Intake

Prior to the Intensive, we meet for an Intake to identify goals, and make a detailed plan to reach your desired outcome. We will determine together the intensive option that would best meet your needs. We will also look at what your life looks like now:  your support system, stressors, ways you cope, and places that you want relief, growth, or to take a big step forward. I may suggest some exercises such as daily meditation and journaling as you prepare for your intensive retreat.

This is an essential and required step in the process.

The Intensive

Put simply, during the Intensive we do 2 things: 1) Make the painful stuff in your life hurt less and 2) Help the good stuff feel even better.

Your Intensive is tailored to your unique needs. Depending on where you are in your journey, we may spend time on your earliest relationships in life (i.e. attachment), target a specific trauma or help you through a crisis.  For others, the focus is more future oriented.  This process is very personal and customized to you.

I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR),  Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems(IFS), Trauma Resilience Model (TRM), Polyvagal Theory, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and Reflective Meditation.

Post-Intensive Interview

This 50-minute session allows us the chance to review your progress and identify and address any continued challenges. It’s also a time to reflect on the elements that were most meaningful to you and how you want to infuse that into your life moving forward. I emphasize sharing insights with the important people in your life, so they can partner with you and celebrate your progress!

FAQ

  • Q: What are EMDR sessions like?
A: EMDR utilizes the body and brain’s natural healing capacity. Through multiple mechanisms (performing rapid eye movements while taxing the working memory system), EMDR creates space for the brain to activate and heal memory networks tied to past trauma that are impact you in your present life. EMDR is more structured than traditional talk therapy, with a set process for sessions. As an evidence-based treatment, adherence to the process typically leads to the best results, but it may feel different or strange at first if you are used to traditional talk therapy. Come with an open mind. For the majority of people, it is highly effective, however it is not right for everyone. There is always an opportunity to adjust our approach at any point in the process.
  • Q: Does is need to be a standalone or incorporated into talk therapy?
A: EMDR can be used either as a stand alone treatment or incorporated with talk therapy. Typically once a “target memory” is selected for reprocessing, EMDR is most effective when the protocol is completed fully. However, EMDR is therapist-led and client-centered, meaning you always hold the power to direct each individual session or overall approach to working through your trauma.
  • Q: How do I know if EMDR will work for me?
A: EMDR is classified as evidence-based and research indicates it may be more effective than Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Patients are shown to experience continued progress even after treatment is complete.
  • Q: Can I change my mind about doing EMDR?
A: Absolutely. At any point, whether during the course of treatment or in an individual session, if you decide you do not want to pursue EMDR we can pause or stop, and focus exclusively on talk therapy. You are always in control of your therapy treatment.
  • Q: How do we get started?
A: Reach out to me and we can set up a consultation! It’ll be a great opportunity for us to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit to work together. I’ll also be happy to answer any questions you have and share what the next steps would look like as we get started.
